Stargate SG1 Convention
Recently, I had the pleasure of attending SG1 convention in Columbus Ohio..What a treat this was for me, as I met 5 of the cast members, and met some really great people, all whom love the show. My husband and children purchased my weekend ticket as a birthday present, and accompanied me down to the hotel for the 3 day weekend.
On Friday, I met a wonderful woman named Diane, from the greater New York area, our seats were next to each other. I also met a gal I chat with on Scifi.com BB/forum, we hit it off quickly! I met another great woman, from Colorado, who works in Columbus as well. Scifi fans are the best!
Friday, the featured speaker was Teryl Rothery (Dr. Janet Fraiser). What a wonderful, talented, funny woman. Very petite and pretty. She very graciously invited me to bring down the kids the next evening so she could meet them and say hi. Friday night there was a cabaret, featuring Don S Davis (Major Hammond) as well as Teryl Rothery. Don entertained us with comical anecdotes, stories and a collection of his favorite poems and prose. What a totally mature, funny, engaging man.
needless top say, with the 2.5 hour drive and all the hoopla, this gal was tired. Found Don and Teryl to be in the hotel bar after hours, so Mike and I went down for a drink and to check it out. Gotta give the stars their space, but it was evident they enjoyed being with the fans, in the informal setting. We also met quite a few interesting people, who are very passionate about the show, and belong to various fan based SG1 "clubs" they were out recruiting, but that's not for me!
well. this ends day one of he sg1 con report. here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.
